What Does an Individual Counselling Session Look Like?
iMentalhealth Counselling Services offers Individual counselling in the City of Saint Albert, Alberta and Edmonton area, with Registered Provisional Psychologist Geordy Murphy and Registered Social Worker Carson Ryner.
Confidentiality: The First part of a counselling session starts with going over confidentiality, limits to confidentiality and housekeeping related to the role of a Psychologist, Social Worker and what to expect.
Goal Setting: We generally want to get a feel for what you would like to work on and gather any background information that might be relevant to what you are going through, and get a picture for how you would like to see things when the problem is gone.
Settling goals in therapy helps to have a focus for your sessions and allows a good framework for our work together.
Collaboration: We work together in coming up with strategies to meet these goals.
Take Action This may involve working on strategies to work on developing new patterns of thinking, new behaviors or techniques to help process difficult emotions. We want you to be able to have tools to take home. A huge part of the process is giving you tools so that you can practice what we do in sessions at home and in your day to day.
Unique to you: Each Person is different, so the approach of the therapist will really depend on what your needs are in therapy.
We are located at 200 Carnegie Drive, in Saint Albert, Alberta. We offer online and in person appointments.
Carson Ryner is currently taking online appointments only as a contractor with iMentalHealth.
